Ivan Lopez Cruz

Ivan G. Lopez Cruz is a PhD student in the Department of Economics at Indiana University. He is also an affiliated graduate student at the Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis at Indiana University. Before beginning his doctoral studies, he worked in the Mexico’s City Police Department, focusing on the production of statistical analysis and research on crime patterns. He is broadly interested in understanding the individual’s and collective economic behavior in contexts where property rights need to be privately enforced. In particular, he has worked in modeling the incentives to accumulate human capital or street capital when public safety is not ensured. More specifically, he is interested in the economics of conflict, economics of crime, the rule of law and more recently in the political economy of public safety.
